I clarified my point with SE, but you are right, they seem to have become selective there. It appears that they are watching closely for threads getting too far off topic or if something is being promoted appearing as advertising. The advertising bit seems to be the one that has become subjective.
I haven't found any rhyme or reason for some of the censorship. I find myself often shocked at what they permit, and surprised at what they remove and who they ban. It all points to a very personal interpretation of the CoC along with selective enforcement.
It surprises you that someone with a name like Karthik Vengaloor would apply a foreign or unexpected interpretation of the code of conduct?
I think he called me last year claiming to have detected a virus on my computer. At the time I wondered whether he was putting viruses on people's systems. Now I know it was true.

"SE" Not Support Engineer was a jerk who pushed his luck a little too far. The community is very subjective, always has been. I gave up trying to make sense of it long ago. So,Rick if you post something extra ordinary don't be surprised if you get 50 up votes ! It's either 007 or me giving you credit according to the community's RULES !

Been there, done that, and had that experience already! It was on a thread over there that I had few postings in, but each time I made one, it was right to the point about how Microsoft should not be automatically be enabling stuff without user consent, be it in testing or not. The user I was up against must not have liked how fast my counter was going up and suggested that I should leave the beta test program for not testing Windows 10 correctly! That user was promptly removed from that forum shortly thereafter for making such a comment, or so it seems. The outcome did seem a little odd to me at the time considering I know that most of us here have been banned at one time or another for expressing an observation or a concern about the direction Windows 10 is heading towards.
If I had a working account on the Answers forum I'd ask about how to give multiple up votes... It can't be as simple as just hitting the button repeatedly can it? But alas I'm not going back over there so I won't ask.
Some years ago a member named "derosnec" among other handles over on TechNet figured out how to give downvotes (the forum didn't offer any capability to do that directly). That'd be a cool thing to exercise once in a while too, especially considering the apparent multi-vote capability.

A year ago, they introduced Guest voting on the Microsoft Answers forum. Previously, clicking the [Like] button on a post redirected you to the Sign-in screen. Now, you can vote on three items without signing in, and the votes will be registered and counted anonymously. A couple of us have browsers set to expire most cookies on session end, and we quickly noticed that we could vote over and over again simply by closing the web browser, reopening it to the same page, and clicking the [Like] button again. I quickly created a thread in the Community Participation Center raising concerns about the new feature. As usual with feedback, Microsoft listened, but they didn't take any action.
Microsoft, is Windows 10 the best you could do? Really? After promising to listen to our feedback, what a letdown!
The MS Forums have been abuzz the few days will all sorts of "New Insiders" trying to do the last minute cash in on the "Free" Windows 10 upgrade. The forum as of late has become the place to see the same old questions being asked and rehashed too many times to count anymore.
This was a refreshing tidbit I found on the the Window 10 Windows Photo Viewer thread which puts what Windows 10 is into a totally new perspective.
i visit the MSFt forums once in a great while. Its really a case of "nothing new to see there stupid, so please be moving along now" there on those forums so i do move along I did take everybodys advise and DID NOT getfreewinblows10 on any of my machines
I guess you have to laugh, because facing the actual reality that Microsoft has finally killed Dave Cutler's amazing OS technology is almost too much to bear. For high tech people, thoughts of changing careers come to mind. Or worse.
I have two sets of PC hardware here: One is still running Win 8.1 and the other is running Win 7 - because those are the systems that provide me the functionality I need. Win 10 never managed it because Microsoft, in their "wisdom" chose to significantly degrade support for "legacy" features without providing anything reasonable to replace them.
I have heard from a very reliable source (he develops the firewall software I use, including one kernel driver) that there have been essentially no substantive kernel changes since Vista. However, some of the Marketing games are causing older systems to become less and less usable - for example, increasing signing requirements to SHA-2 but never releasing an update that makes Vista capable of loading drivers signed with SHA-2 cyphers essentially eliminates Vista from the running.
Rest assured there are or will be arbitrary things that will make Windows 7 "obsolete" soon enough as well.

The natives must be getting restless. Being stuck on a botched 14905 build from Microsoft with no new ones in sight, things like this are starting to show up. From Answers.Microsoft.com thread: No black smoke over the Basilica. (No new build)
Lo and behold PA Bear - MS MVP raised his head and, while he made a good point about systems not needing registry cleaners, he did nothing more but heckle. Made me want to throttle him.
I ended up disabling the scheduled run of provtool, and it made me realize I need to do another careful sweep of the Task Scheduler and get rid of a whole bunch more junk Microsoft has added. Jesus they're being intrusive lately.

Ok people... first the title is "tongue-in-cheek". I don't really think the plan is "secret".
But the problem is real... and becoming more prominent. And it boils down to the Cortana Language Teams being "LAZY"!! At the very beginning when Cortana first made English (Canada) available.... just a little over one year ago, they did have a package which was labelled "en-CA" or something like that. It very quickly disappeared and now our English (Canada) package files are actually en-GB. A modified (and lazy) version of English (United Kingdom)!!
The problem is this..... websites are now detecting our Language up here as English (United Kingdom) and delivering content appropriate for their Country.
Here is my Feedback Hub entry.... I implore any Canadians to find it in the Feedback Hub under "Input and Interactions Methods" and "Upvote" it to get some attention.
Hi English Language Team, I'm a Canadian. Been one all my life. Born in the Prairies, wheat fields on one side, Majestic Rockies on the other. I visit the United States regularly and understand your Language perfectly. There are a few areas with odd accents but y'all tell us we have an accent too. Lately I have noticed more and more when downloading Program and App updates for all (3) of my PC's that I am being directed to United Kingdom versions!! Now I am sure the UK is a lovely country too but I have never been there. We do get BBC TV here but honestly sometimes I just don't understand some of the words they use. As an Windows Insider for the last 20 months I have become very familiar with some of the Language issues that have plagued your team. Well, as a Canadian, I feel it is time to take a stand and DEMAND you stop delivering us a version of English - United Kingdom and "fake" calling it English - Canada as some websites are now seeing through your little game and laziness!
A reply:
"From a dictionary perspective, Canadian English spelling and U.K. English spelling are identical."
Being Canadian myself, I have to agree with the OP's rebuttal:
"Generally they are very SIMILAR but not identical. Our English is closer to US than to UK. And our Speech is very much closer to US than UK."

<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
