Used to go to the Insider and win10 forums just to see what kinda blandness was going on. A couple months ago I suddenly couldnt access the sites and still cant. just the stupid blue balls going round and round. kinda like win10....round and.... round and.....round

Basically, in this particular thread, there was a determination made that Microsoft's use of the little swirling balls came about because of an inherent shortcoming in the XAML programming language. Yes, it's the very same language they are trying to re-write Windows 10 with and we all know how well that is going!

Thanx for that Rick ! Straight outta the ol' archives. Hard to believe that testing 10 used to be fun. I remember that thread too . When things got frustrating, Real insiders cranked up the sense of humor. Just goofing around waiting for the latest build to flight. BTW, one of those A.Users was me. ; ) brings back memories : )

Wow—that guy "srfreeman" is seriously something else! Such arrogance! He seriously wants $5000 plus expenses paid, and clearance from his "legal team", just to "help"? And he's the one who created the thread (and thus the discussion) in the first place! You've gotta be kidding me! Is he really that incapable of writing down the steps in a post? Has he never heard of TeamViewer? Why is a person with his attitude even a member on a public forum in the first place?
In all seriousness, if SRF - as an exec - feels the Microsoft Answers forum is representative of overall user intelligence and is actually basing decisions off that information, then it's no wonder Windows is being dumbed down to even below the level of an Apple user.
Making high tech accessible to more dummies is not bad in itself; but you have to stop short of dumbing it down so thoroughly that power users can no longer find usefulness in the features. Some people still need computers.
Ignoring the intelligence level of the smart folks trying to help others on the forums (well, not really ignoring - banning because speaking the truth is considered "disruptive") is in itself a demonstration of lack of integrity. SRF doesn't really understand how the technical things work, so he can't tell what's BS and what's a genuine expression of expertise. He himself deals out almost exclusively BS, so he figures no one else can do better.
Hey, how about thisrecentdebacle where business users on Windows 10 accessing servers with Indexing present can't create a folder on a server and give it a name of their choosing? It's still a problem as of this writing, though Microsoft has a fix on the way in the Windows Update catalog. It'll probably be rolled out for mortals on patch Tuesday of February.
WaadduS - Windows as a dumbed down useless Service - stunting the business world one enterprise at a time.

Clicked on the link to the original thread,today.......is it me or did the mods delete ALL the replies? If the average Joe looked at that thread they might think srFreakman got away unchallenged.
It can be worse, the MOD's haven't just been censoring threads with selective post deletions trying to make to thread more relevant, the thread itself can be deleted in it's entirety with you only receiving an e-mail from Microsoft telling you about it. The funny thing is, I just responded to a post to one of those Pro Windows guys asking why he had received such an e-mail to this. It's really not all that free and open forum over there anymore when it comes to being too critical or negative about something in Windows 10 according to Microsoft's eyes.

They never were especially "free & open" as far as i'm concerned, but this stinks to high heaven of "Virtual Reality"! Do they really think that they are fooling anyone ? Unbelievable.

More fun stuff, courtesy of our buddy srFreakman.
First, he's Waaaaaaaaaaaay off topic. LOL Second, me thinks he's tipped his hand a bit. The key word "seems" leads me to believe that he has no long term business dealings in the US of A. If he did then he would state it absolutely.
His use of the word "curricula" from the Latin curricula vitae shows that he is highly educated. His comments regarding H1B visas guarantees he is a foreign national. That hits close to home for the former MS employees who were handed their walking papers a few years back.

In trying to provide Feedback on yet another problem Microsoft has created for itself in Windows 10, I happened to come across this little tid-bit in the Quests section. I would hope people would know how to Turn-On and Shut-Off their devices, but I know a lot of people don't these days. Maybe it is fitting, but to us PC Users, it just looks plain weird to see a quest put out for something like this.

Never ceases to amaze me the attention to detail and quality of information from participants in the MS answers forum. Special thanx to the mods for clarifying this post. Without their dedication and intervention it would be impossible to understand the question posed. LOL
As I've recently been having troubles using this forum these days because of a themes glitch, I see the MS forums is having all sorts of problems too. The user stats page is not updating anymore. There are performance issues when navigating over there from time to time. The one that's got me wondering what MSFT is up to is the locking of most of the old threads when you are looking back at your threads history.

they get nuked every night with dozens / hundreds of Korean call girl / escort spam posts and they're locking old threads
haven't been around much due to being in hardware hell
trying to find a system around here that won't eat my 2TB HDDs on the SATA ports is a pain in the donkey
when I delete the partition create a new one and attach it on USB no problems
running fill tests for a week+ straight no problems as soon as I install it on a SATA controller and try to use it, boom! click clack followed by billions of event viewer spam disk x has a bad block / driver detected a controller error on blah blah blah but only with winders if I boot to UBCD and test with the Mfg testing tools no problems found and no noises no reallocations etc. boot back into winders and it does it again
I find the lack of configuration options disturbing !
I felt a great disturbance in the force.. as if millions of win 7 systems suddenly cried out in terror.
The discussion was about voting on design changes to Windows Explorer, or shall I say File Explorer. One of the comments that came up was...
MS is too busy trying to fix things that aren't broken and not focused enough on fixing things that ARE broken (like file & folder sharing for example).
Ah.. Windows 10 just mess up install on 300 test machines.....There goes my weekend planssssss..... Has anyone encounter the latest build messing up computers? The start menu does not work. CPU is running at 100% but no program is using 100%. Restore point does not work. Most of the programs do not work. The All settings just crash. Cortana does not work. Edge does not work. Safe mode will not start. Fails on a green screen with an error message but it is so distorted that can not be read. Control Panel works still but since most useful feature have been removed. Explorer works but takes long time to load and does crash often. It seems I will be re imaging these machines over the weekend. I can not wait until this test period ends. Most of the test people have already decided that they do not want Windows 10. Too many problems with it. No big benefit for using them.
. . . and of course, the fanboys keep insisting that there are no problems with Windows 10. Meanwhile, the RS-3 series has proven to be very problematic that it even has MSFT delaying its release until October now.
I'm sure most of us here have given up on the notion that we will ever be using Windows 10 for anything serious unless we are really stuck and there is nothing else available. But, every now and then, something interesting does show up from the folks at Redmond. This one has been reported by on of our co-members here, Taffy087, to the answers.microsoft.com forums. To me, judging by the screen shots, it looks like Cortana is hard at work trying to be useful in a nice sort of way. Here is the story:
Q: Slideshows on Lock & Background screens - has there been a major, clever improvement? Windows 10 (Home)
I have the same slideshows on both my Lock & Background screens, mainly my 2-years old grandson. Today, I've spent far too much time than has been good for my posture and my eyes on recreating documents, files, website Favourites and so on following my recent Clean Instal. And so I've seen the slideshow photos changes every minute. The "major, clever improvement" to which I refer in the heading is this: my laptop is displaying two photos side-by-side but on a huge numbes of occasions, it seems as if the photos have been cleverly chosen by the programming rather than having happened randomly. For example a photo of my grandson aged eighteen months on a swing next to one of him aged 24 months on a swing. Or two of him shown side by side when he's sat in a supermarket trolley - one of his favourite pleasures. And it's not just the content of the photos - superimposed on the ones in the supermarket has been text along the lines of "click here to be reminded to buy more milk", as if the system recognises what's in the photos. Has there been this "major, clever improvement" and clever text, or is it still just random and I've just spent too long on my laptop? (Might sound a flippant question but it's genuine!)

<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
