Seems only right since for the first time in twenty years there will be no more Widows versions to beta test, that I would be banished until the end of time as A.User.
Was that your thread, Mike? Or did they decide to ban you just because you subscribed to it?
Guilty by association.
I suppose it's a good thing that Microsoft isn't just a mild fail, but an EPIC one. If they'd gotten things ALMOST right the choice to walk away and leave them behind wouldn't be quite so easy.
i was posting to that thread also as Win10nightmares. no ban for me wish the mods would stop playing god and just let most things run their course. but then i guess "mein fuerher" microsoft would have to deal with alot of discourse.
meh...whatever. i do not feel the need to try to help MSFT make "windows" to be better anymore
One by one we realize that the some of the folks are simply going to go down with the ship (they actually WANT to), and the simple fact is that not everyone can be saved. That the folks running the ship left us out in the cold is irritating to be sure, but hey, for those few of us who actually paid attention in Lifeboat Training 101, the provisions aren't bad and in time we'll make it to the shore.

Subject: Complete our survey and get a chance to win a Microsoft Surface Book
Help us understand what's most important to you.
Hello,
With your help, we seek to make Windows better. Our team is committed to understanding – and responding to – your feedback. As Gabe Aul explains in his blog post here (Insider Hub), your engagement helps improve not only Windows as a product, but also the Windows Insider Program itself.
Your feedback is most powerful when we can triangulate it across the Feedback App, your bug reports and error logs—and especially when we can understand a bit more about you as a person, your motivations in taking part in the Insider Program, and what you think about our progress to date. To deepen this understanding, we'd like to invite you to take a short survey to help us improve the Insider Program for you.
To proceed with the survey, please click on the link below or copy into your Internet browser. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Please know we take your privacy and trust extremely seriously. We are committed to providing the best survey experience for you. In his blog post (Insider Hub), Gabe wrote about several of the ways we’re doing this. For example, survey results are not associated with personal information unless you choose to provide your name or email address, and we follow all Microsoft privacy standards. That said, as with all aspects of the Windows Insider Program, we want to continually improve. We welcome your thoughts: here is a forum for any questions or suggestions you may have.
We truly value hearing from each and every Insider. As a small token of our appreciation for helping us improve, if you complete the survey and choose to include your Microsoft email address (MSA), you'll automatically be entered into a sweepstakes to win a free Microsoft Surface Book! Details on the sweepstakes can be found at bottom of this email.*
Thanks again for helping make Windows – and the Windows Insider Program – even better,
The Windows Insider Team

A pretty good response that hit some of the points we have been making for more than a year now.

I am very displeased with the Insider experience and how it translates into the public release. For instance, the issue with the Privacy Settings issue when upgrading from the July Public Release to the November Update? It seems as much as Microsoft wants to make these revisions less disruptive, it will take sometime before updates like 1511 can be delivered smoothly.
I have to admit, installing 1511 was basically like upgrading to Windows 10 all over again. It is scaring a lot of persons seeing their PCs reboot into a setup routine. It needs to be less invasive. Preferably just delivering them as small KB updates like what has worked for many years. I am not satisfied with the Windows as a Service (WAAS) model. It needs to be less disruptive, it needs to be more reliable, it needs to be graceful, it needs to stop breaking PCs with Windows 7/8.1 installations that are functioning well.
The Upgrade Assistant needs to stop downloading GBs of data and killing space makng the upgrade impossible, it needs to work better on devices persons bought only last year but can't get it installed on because the upgrade is having trouble being shoe horned. It needs to have better diagnostics and recovery tools. The Insider Program should be resolving these problems, it is not doing that.
There needs to be a Windows 10 Errors Twitter account with ready information, when someone tweets you, an immediate answer. I participate in the forums everyday and I see frustration, reluctance from users who don't want to upgrade because of the bad experience. Upgrading to a new version of Windows should not be such a headache. I have to be causing potential upgraders to ensure they create a system image backup.
The issues with Digital Entitlement is also another issue, its not graceful either and needs more work. The MCT tool is also another area that needs work, you need to let users have more control, some persons have Pro licenses and that is what they want to upgrade to. There is so much frustration.
I want Windows 10 to be a success, I see the benefits, but its hard getting persons to adopt it because of the amount of obstacles in the way. Persons are reporting of 10240 working great then 10586 breaking apps, there is still the issue and concern of privacy. My personal issue is how Windows 10 loves bandwidth.
Living in a rural area on a limited metered connection, Windows 10 does not have the common decency to respect that and sucks up my bandwidth without the consideration. Trust me, there needs to be a lot of work done.
There have been successes, my laptop is running it quite well and my brothers Dell Inspiron upgraded successfully, but I am fearing my other brothers Toshiba.
You need to also work closely with getting the video drivers sorted out, Windows 10 reporting of compatibility issues before and after upgrade. Provide thorough end to end advice what the users should do. For example, you could put something that says, 'Yes, your video card is reporting incompatibilities, but here is what you can do, uninstall it now, then proceed with the upgrade and Windows will download the latest driver from Windows Update for you'. Give the user some confidence and comfort.

Yes, and I thought to myself, even if I were to be influenced by the possibility of winning, why would I want a Surface? Make one of the possibilities a dual Xeon motherboard or something and maybe I'll pay some attention.
I gave up on trying to help Microsoft. May they become irrelevant all the faster.
Another way we are trying to engage with our Windows Insiders is through our “Community Champions” program. We have about 80 engineers from teams across Windows who have been having conversations with Windows Insiders in the Windows Insider forums. That is another way that we collect and respond to feedback. The goal of that effort is to have a back and forth exchange with you in order to better understand issues and how you’re liking the latest changes we are making. Community Champions are real engineers and they take their learnings and experiences from interacting with you back to their teams to “champion” your feedback! blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2015/06/12/how-windows-insider-feedback-influences-windows-10-development/

I find the lack of configuration options disturbing !
I felt a great disturbance in the force.. as if millions of win 7 systems suddenly cried out in terror.

It looks as though the mods are a bit concerned about the potential for upvote fraud (yeah right) What really is a concern , that THEY might be exposed as frauds. This "issue" was raised last summer . Still on the backburner. I know techie007 has copies of my/our posts.

The point certainly can't be stressed enough. I've noticed since the public release of Windows 10 that this kind of activity has been on the rise not just through just cold calling tactics, but in web pop-ups and e-mails too.
Got two cold call attempts today here, actually (and no worries here about allowing them to even get out of the starting blocks). The phone numbers were:
(130) 271-0891 -and- 302710891
Related, but both clearly invalid phone numbers.
I'd love to have someone from Microsoft come in and try to seize my computer.

they even have moles in Dell sales / shipping etc. centers
friend bought a new Dell Vostro direct from Dell a couple of years back
within one week of delivery they get phone calls and emails saying their PC is leaking PII data and they call me, "what is this ?"
I say it's a scam and the reason they are calling now is because you recently ordered a new system and they have moles inside they won't call anyone who's using a business contact at Dell because they know they'll get IT not a poor user
but when someone orders a business class system direct from Dell, requests the downgrade to previous version, > in this case winders ape pro downgrade to win 7 Pro x64 has it delivered to a home / residential address the mole(s) send the phone number and email address that was used to register for an account with Dell over to the scammers
I don't know how Dell doesn't catch and fire these clowns !

A little something posted by Peter Dinh from the MS boards. This posting is about some of Windows 10's enviable features as seen from the perspective of a Mac user.
Ooh, an Apple user wants his search to include interesting and exciting things from the web, just like Windows 10! Life's so boring when your search only finds things you already know are on your disk.
Fucking idiot.
2 days ago I watched over the shoulder as a long-time Mac user who has only ever used Windows 7 saw Windows 10 for the first time. I watched as half a dozen times my chief engineer (a brilliant man) searched for something (like Settings and Windows Update) and inadvertently chose a web result over the already highlighted local result. His comment: Who in their right mind would want to search the web for these things?

We're not the only ones; it looks like the Microsoft Answers site is becoming increasingly overrun by trolls, and moderators who selectively enforce the CoC and met out biased punishments. Here's another interesting (but sad) thread I encountered: Code of Conduct Parameters?!
And tnpir4002 (a.k.a. Brandon Bridges) is at it again, trying to troll users off the forum. I remember the days when Noel was banned for an entire month for simply asking Drew for proof and telling him that claims weren't good enough. And then, he was banned again for simply using the word "Metrotard" in a post. Petty stuff, and stuff that doesn't violate the CoC! But nowadays? There are trolls who have created multiple accounts, and troll with the intent to cause certain threads to derail and get locked, or troll with the intent to run users off the forum, and yet none of them—not a single one—has been banned, despite violating multiple CoC points in multiple posts, one right after the other. It is utterly deplorable the "moderation" (really, censorship, despite claiming otherwise) at Microsoft Answers. Me thinks it mirrors their management and team skills too, which fully explains why Windows 10's the mess it currently is.
I am utterly disappointed with Microsoft and the Insider Program.

Microsoft, is Windows 10 the best you could do? Really? After promising to listen to our feedback, what a letdown!
<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.
