There is not a single redeeming thing about this forum, is there?
I’ve been a critic of this forum previously, but I would like to try another tact. Glass half full so to speak.
Are these things true for everyone else?
The software works poorly, unreliably, and is super slow
There is precious little technical content posted
Everyone seems to have lost interest and regular members moved away
There seem to be no interesting conversations
It appears that it is no longer worth my time to keep coming back here regularly for so little gain, and I am retired.
Or am I wrong?

Frankly I've found it becoming more and more difficult lately to want to come back here, for the reasons stated.
I've tried to post a lot of interesting stuff - even some exclusive to this site - to try to bring in more folks with similar feelings and more info to share, but it really does seem like we're coming up short of critical mass lately.
The one bright spot - I do enjoy interacting with you particular lot because of our common perceptions that the Windows world is being led by the nose and no one else seems to think the ring is uncomfortable.

The forum software works well, reliably and quick for me in Firefox 50. Can post video proof if needed. As a user that has frequented a number of forums over the years, I would rate this platform among the best. Much preferable to Microsoft Answers, IMHO.
I agree. Partly my fault. A big thank you to Noel and Rick for continuing to keep things alive here.
No surprises here—at least for me. Our original cause was to provide logical and rational feedback to Microsoft that would quickly be accepted and implemented in Windows 10. This didn't happen, and so this site was created for us censored techs to vent. But what sparked many of the interesting conversations over at Microsoft Answers was diversity. Difference of opinion. Over here, we're all like minded (except when it comes to politics, it seems! ). And now we have no cause. For the only avenue that Microsoft has left us, namely, the Feedback Hub, this site has no influence because we have few members. I could get a better response on Facebook if I wanted people to vote on something for me!
In addition to the above, I partly blame the Shoutbox and narrow scope of the site. From time to time when I stop by, from the tail ends of random conversations that I see sometimes, I realize that I've missed out on something that may have been interesting. Something I had suggested several times on Microsoft Answers (before the creation of this site) was to move to MSFN. The reason I suggested that is because that forum is already established and has a number of like minded users. Unfortunately, I don't really care for their forum platform. But there are certainly more interesting conversations over there.
Microsoft, is Windows 10 the best you could do? Really? After promising to listen to our feedback, what a letdown!

as with the dumbing down of winders and the push to [cr]apps, mobile so comes the destruction of the web
I find less to do on the web than before and every site that I've been a member of has eventually gone to shit
used to be a major contributor for tech answers on yahoo answers back when it was green theme then it became the purple theme and drifted off into yahoo assholes so I left
TechRepublic / ZDNet, changed their sites and it became unusable, so I stopped posting there
etc.
most sites now make it impossible to participate without lowering security or having faceboot, twatter, etc.
any site that doesn't "degrade" to HTML properly is useless as far as I'm concerned click a search result and get a blanks screen, not hanging around to see what JS I have to allow to get it to function etc.
I find the lack of configuration options disturbing !
I felt a great disturbance in the force.. as if millions of win 7 systems suddenly cried out in terror.

I simply asked a question.
I will however accept your advice and move onto places where the content and posters have moved further down the path of evolution.
My 2 cents worth. We are but but a small group of people here with a distain for what Microsoft has done with their lastest, but certainly not the greatest release of Windows. This forum was built on a whim sitting on top of a "FREE" web hosting site to give us a place to vent about Microsoft's handling of Windows 10 Development. That in itself does leave us with a narrow scope of things to talk about especially now that Windows 10 RTM has come and gone. The novelty of having a new OS to play with has most certainly worn off. We all know Windows 10 is really Windows 8.2 but packaged differently so that the heart of it is to serve as advertising data collecting platform. We are at a point where we know IT departments don't like it and is holding off on it's deployment. Many of us who are in the know have already concluded that if you need to get real work done on a computer, it best to go back to your old, but trusty or perhaps an alternative OS to make it happen. New topics are hard to come by in light of this when only about a half a dozen of us or so have been contributing regularly here.
As for this site, The software driving it does work well..., once you have figured out it's idiosyncrasies and don't try to view these pages using IE-11. I've gotten into the habit of switching browsers when I come here because of having performance issues with IE-11. Noel's Hosts File program and adjusting IE's setting does help, but using an alternative browser still beats it. As of right now, I'm typing this on IE-8. Now, imagine a newcomer coming here for the first time, stuff that we take for granted or know how to work around would be daunting for a newbie here. Software Ituitiveness seems to have become a lost art and this site does suffer somewhat from that problem too.
Unfortunately so. Now some of us may be starting to see why so many forums have rules against insulting or harassing other members. This in itself is also an issue facing our country...the cost and illusion of "freedom". Long as there is difference of opinion, and stronger feelings about opinions than love for our fellow man, true freedom is not possible. It will have to come down to deciding where the lines of freedom must be drawn, where one person's rights end and another's begin.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. The "Valued member" has a history of demanding others comply with his version of "Facts" or his inevitable diatribe follows. Lets be honest, he was not banned or run out of town or his identity deleted by the "Mods" for a COC violation. He is angry about things that have absolutely nothing to do with Win10epicfail. ...lets leave it at that
Agreed. This thing did get blown out of proportion because of a political opinion that had nothing to do with Win10epicfail. The other points that were brought up in this thread are technical problems with this site that we have all have been aware of since nearly day one of being here.
Sux to be him there is alot of very valuable information to be had here. there are GREAT minds who come and add to that library of valuable information. I for one will keep checking this site regularly until i am the only one here. I frequent MSFN but cannot become a member because of their goofy security standards. I will not sacrifice my security so a website can feed me ads and sell my info to the hounds!
DELETE the political post. this is not a political forum!

Overwatch no problemo I don't think there is anyone or anything to address,
CC has self deleted and left
the anon political flap post is off topic > but I don't see where we have any firm policy that says no off topic posts which is why I said I defer to you about deleting the anon political flap post

<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.
