Oh Microsoft! For decades you gave us KB updates with information With Win10 you took control and gave us obfuscation You offered Insiders KB’s for our dissection But your dishonesty was met with our rejection You offered spyware as telemetric intrusions But we knew better - being under no illusions Security was the explanation now for all And into this trap many users did fall Forcing Win10 was the motive for this deception The uninformed received a silent Win10 infection Outsiders gave it an unwanted reception The informed prevented the downgrade and corruption With KB3035583 you gave us an app and a Win10 invitation With KB2952664 you performed telemetry data escalation With KB2990214, KB2977759, KB3021917, KB3068708, more telemetry and nagware to prepare for Windows 10 installation With KB3022345 you installed a tracking service which led to system file corruption With KB3015249, KB3075249 added telemetry points and a consent.exe infection With KB3080149 diagnostic telemetry, and a CEIP spyware infestation With KB3050265 you changed system files for Windows 10 support-ation We still long for an honest Win7 SP2 injection Win10 just doesn’t pass our inspection Outsiders clearly know that this isn’t perfection
Dear Microsoft, A once benevolent monopoly, you have now either lost the necessary skilled people, or have run out of ideas. Have you lost the will to continue to advance technology, after four decades, to further computer user productivity? Instead you have now latched onto what seems to be a short-lived trend of data mining for information sales, the click bait generation of ad revenue. All of this with an irresponsible acquiescence to government surveillance. This, just to further quarterly profit results and therefore the fortunes of your shareholders. Is this just a cynical monopolistic leveraging of a billion global users, to ring the cash register in an effort to cash in your chips?
Much like a son, Nadella, inheriting a business from his father, Ballmer, started by his grandfather’s, Gates and Allen runs it into the ground. You now choose to discard your legacy, and the impact to your long term customers, personally and professionally, to sell off the assets only to further his short term desires. In this case, the assets cast off are the customers of the past forty years.
The computer market sees your vision as legally blind since 2012, and windows 10 as a 20th century product in a 21st century dress. Up on Bullshit Mountain, you are busy polishing this turd for the media, but in the end you will still end up with just a turd.
You are misdirected by the twin distractions of shinny objects and squirrels, in the form of Wall Street quarterly profits projections, and shareholder return demands. These will drive you out of business with greed-based decisions, which they are infamous for.
Surface is a distraction, HoloLens is a distraction.
Stay focused, don’t chase the market that Apple built, and expect to beat them at it. It doesn’t matter, they are smartphones not computers.
Computers create things, computers allow progress, and phones just display what others created.
Your youthful employees know of nothing but phones, but that market opportunity is already saturated and gone. Tablet sales are flat and phones soon will be except for biannual model upgrades for Apple and Android. You need to put some grownups in that room, perhaps Jim Allchin and Bill Gates could be two of them, with Meyerson, Nadella, and Belfiore, noses pressed against the window, looking in. Selling a windows phone to each Microsoft employee is not a sustainable business model.
You had two choices leading up to 2012: One, to chase the unicorn-like phone craze to the holographic rainbow pot of gold mirage, that you came late to the party on. Two, to show people what you could create with a real computer, so when the infatuation with four inch screens and apps ends, you will have built something for them. A real version of windows with high-resolution three-dimensional graphics and powerful software programs, using the same computer resources squandered with Windows 10 now.
Play to your strengths. Show what can be done with a dozen processor cores and GPU SLI frame-metering technologies for 4K displays, and low latency SSD’s. Pull the source for Cairo, Blackcomb (Vienna), and the Longhorn source code, and use those as building blocks. Think about the dreams you had for windows in the first decade of this century. Build on that.
Remember the 90’s?, you took the computer world from 16 bit to 32 bit to 64 bit. What happened to the plan to migrate applications like Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Gallery, and Microsoft Office Outlook etc. to use WinFS as the data storage back-end? There still needs to be an object based file system or something resembling a layer on top of the file system that lets you locate information without digging into the file and directory tree. OFS or object file system, to provide a "unified storage system” that would let you query by content.
You can drive the hardware market through innovation and bring laptop and desktop sales to record highs with impressive products. You are a monopoly; use it for good and not evil. Advance the state of the art don’t neuter it. The IBM PC beat the Apple II, even with a head start, because it became a better product. DOS on that machine made you a company and made you all rich. Help build a better PC again with a 21st century Windows we can all love again.
Please. We don’t want a free OS, we want a good OS.
Only thing I would say differently is that they've been on the wrong road since 2009 (i.e. just after the build of Windows 7 that went to system testing).

Author of the "How to Configure the 'To Work' Options" series of Windows books. Not feeling enough love to do one for Windows 10.
Oh, Apple, Google, and Microsoft Eight years ago with iOS and Android you surprised the world in your prime Giving folks a pocket device to consume and waste away their lifetimes Apple knew better than to shrink the Mac, out of fear your users would attack So you grew the iPod, despite the quality and performance it would lack Google bought an OS with all their money Then monetized it for all to see that this idea was not that funny iOS, is Slow, Laggy, Bloaty, Crashy, Buggy, and Drainy, we are aware Your Android spying platform has evolved to become but a cesspool of malware A phone from MS was not something to make a Windows user scream A reoccurring Windows user nightmare, was a MS content consumption machine But you both made MS chase your four inch screen, pipe dream Now IDC says you can have three percent market by twenty-nineteen With Android at eighty-three, iOS will own the other fourteen Chasing a market of two million phones and millions more slabs On your legacy three hundred million PC market, you lost tabs With Windows they could not compete But MS they were determined to beat Your plans made MS destroy it for you Enough of this flat minimalist, low quality shit already, WE IMPLORE YOU!

I'm really getting to hate the "Me Too" mentality coming from these companies. In the case of iOS, I would love to go back to version 6.x and take some of the best features from the later releases and put them in there too! I really hated the flat look of iOS 7 on my iPhone. I stayed away from it on my i-Pad until recently because of an app compatibility issue, now I'm regretting that I have ever done the upgrade to these newer buggier versions ever since!
<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<Rick> Hello. Just checking in.

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
