Interestingly, adoption of the old Windows 7 operating system also grew in June to 49.05% and was in fact the most-used out of all of the operating systems studied. Windows 7 usage, for the most part, had decreased since the launch of Windows 10 in late July 2015 from 60.73% to 47.82% in April 2016. It then jumped back up to 48.57% in May.

As far as i can see, the increase in Win7 systems online is all about people trying to grab the free upgrade to 10 before the offer expires. The MS community forums are full of brand new posts about questions/issues/problems with upgrading clean installs of 7sp1.
I am counting the days till this nonsense is over.
I sat the bag of bricks down last month and wow, I do feel the weight lifted off...
No more updates to Win 7 or 8.1... No more headaches.
I'm still keeping my Win 10 test VM running - in fact I'm typing this in it right now. I'll put the finishing touches on my re-tweaker script when the anniversary build gets released.
I'm absolutely sure I would set the 3 month delay for major updates if I were running that turkey on my hardware.
I'll be glad when the free downgrade BS is over too - so I can stop being even slightly tempted to take advantage of it.

Never imagined myself going for the Updwngrade, but i had a buggered up oem-slp install of seven that was collecting dust for two years. It would only activate on an older Celeron hp machine so i figured what have i got to lose. Once WU agent 7.6.7600.320 was finished screwin around(took almost 3days)the machine was up to date so i pulled the trigger. Upgrade Assistant from ip 68.106.66.3 did its thing. Transition from 7 to 10 went smoothly, all my files and most of my settings were saved. Immediately slapped a strict firewall on it and promptly fell asleep. The moral of the story: It's just the same 10 we all know and don't particularly like !
Don't feel bad. The decision is not an easy or direct one.
I'll be making my final decision for my main workstation a couple of days before the deadline, based on what I'm seeing in the pre-release at the time, even though if I DID put in Windows 10 I'd immediately set it to the 3 month delay setting for updating to the anniversary version.

In all honesty Noel, the only reason i pulled the trigger on the Updowngrade to 10 was to see if it actually worked. Can't run my mouth about it if i didn't actually do it myself. 10 is a royal P.I.T.A ! It is just as goofy and inconsistent as it always has been. Today i lost my wired network icon in the tray. I can still get online, but no internet icon. Also my calender app crashes when i try to start it. Its a joke. All the dumbshit we have come to expect from beta software written by our friends in Redmond.
I have a SSD with a clean install of 7 x86 that purrs like a kitten on this Walmart bluelight special hp2000 notebook. Will be switching back to that after i get my "Redstone" build. Fingers crossed Win10 had better not mess with my BIOS.
<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?

<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<Rick> Hello. Just checking in.

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
