well somebody's gotta do it, may as well be me:
1. It’s free - who cares, actually nothing is free,
2. Live Tiles - prefer the "dead" desktop, start menu, and taskbar icons - these data stealing / data wasting tiles are absolutely useless
3. Automatic Updates - get lost, - I'll manage updates myself, - I don't need any crapdates rebooting my system while I'm working or borking the system to unbootable with botched incompatible crapdates, - there's a reason it's been called "Crash Tuesday" since the beginning of WUAU
4. Action Center - haha, nice try, "Action Center" was introduced in vista
5. Tablet Mode - don't care, will never use a finger pokey device, I hate those things, I have a hard enough time with dinky little keyboards on laptops / netbooks etc.
6. The design - um, ya, nope, the shart menu is no replacement, there are no ways to get rid of extraneous junk, - try it, right click on any item and look for delete, yup, it's not there
7. It’s part of a whole new platform - I've never been looking for a whole new platform - actually I still do my invoicing from win 3.10, still do my work on XP - ya guess what, the work I do CANNOT be done on vista and up, due to the fact there is no kernel mode audio stack
8. The Speed - nice try, wanna see the real boot time, disable fake shutdown : powercfg -h off - Noel has already done performance comparisons, - guess what, it will still get bloated by all that user / usage history being stored - my configs are the most optimized for performance and privacy, configuring for privacy, no user / usage history = not bloating the system with all the tracking logs - stupidfetch says: "improves the performance over time" disabling it from the get go = already in performance mode because it's not beating the hell out of the disk to fill the RAM with extraneous junk that won't be used
9. Cortana - nope, don't need a mole in my PC
I find the lack of configuration options disturbing !
I felt a great disturbance in the force.. as if millions of win 7 systems suddenly cried out in terror.
"The Speed" refers to the drugs the Programmers and especially Marketeers have been taking.
Doesn't "a whole new platform" actually have to be better in some way? I guess I'm a dinosaur for wanting "and improved" to follow "new".
"The design"... HOLY FRACKING SNOT does someone actually think Windows 10 was designed? Another case of redefinition, I guess. Back in my day, design actually meant spending more than 30 seconds throwing code at the wall to see what sticks. Monkeys throw things at the wall to see what sticks.
"Tablet Mode" I guess would be interesting to someone who wanted no more than the minimal amusement a tablet could provide. For those of us who prefer REAL computers... Meh?
"Action Center", ooh, something that slides in from the side!!! Bzzzt. Sliding in from the SIDE is not any kind of innovation on a machine that can play real time 3D games. And is it me, or couldn't notifications have just been put into an application? Don't look now but applications have been displaying lists of text since cars were burning leaded gas. The stupid thing doesn't even have translucency without a 3rd party hack.
"Automatic Updates". Seems incredible that such a thing, a NECESSARY part of Windows since time began (or we would never have bought any version until SP1 or SP2), should be touted as a feature RIGHT WHEN Microsoft a) has the lowest quality programmers they've ever had, and b) has decided to foist alpha testing on customers. Do they think we're fucking stupid?
"Live Tiles". All I can say to that is: "OW! MY BALLS!"
"It's free". And less functional and more ad-ridden than anything that has preceded it.

Obvious from the start, 10 was a hodgepodge of 7,8,and wireframe gui's for the phones. No continuity,No focus. They kept telling us it was beta and would only get better. Still waiting for that.....
It is frustrating that after a year we still get more of the same "no redeeming thing" except that its free lists. Another week and it will be 8 reasons to upgrade to 10.

<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> The rebroadcast is working okay.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?
Oct 2, 2021 12:56:10 GMT -6
<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<Rick> Hello. Just checking in.

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

Oct 9, 2022 17:32:44 GMT -6
<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
