Well it seems lately glass is back on the radar. Of course nothing has changed as MSFT is still being a stingy dick and keeping it all for themselves. The usual fucking idiots sputing usuall bullshit against it and the usual common sense folks shooting them down. So ive started this thread to dispel the common myths with Aero glass. Lets begin
1. Aero glass is too resource heavy.
This is nothing more than soo much bullshit. One could make a slight case that glass in vista was more so (because it was) however it was taken care of in 7. In windows 7 Microsoft stopped storing Drawing data for components in system memory because they were already doing it in video memory (using DX for things like double buffering etc..). In effect the data used to draw a window or window component was being stored twice. This is why even with glass windows 7 uses far less system memory without increasing video memory usage (in fact optimization made that smaller too).
2. Aero glass makes your computer run slower.
This is no more true than ANY OTHER SOFTWARE. Of course you could say the Windows mail client makes your computer run slower or having a GUI at all makes your computer run slower. Of course they do because its additional code vying for time slices on the CPU. The difference is what do you get for that cost and how much of a cost is it actually? Sure DOS is a lot faster but a good GUI offers a lot more in ease of operation and since the difference is hardly even noticeable why wouldnt you? If you could buy a car that was 5 years newer and had 25,000 fewer miles you wouldnt complain if the cost difference was only a few hundred bucks. You wouldnt even consider the other car its what we in the technical field call a "No brainer" Not to be confused with millenials who consider everything a no brainer since they wont use their brains anyway.
3. Aero glass used too much HDD space.
Do i really even need to explain this? The metro calculator version on windows 10 is almost 15 times larger than the whole of Aero. I would agree if this was still 1988 and 4TB HDD's werent available. In fact you can even get 512GB SSD's for under $200 and sometimes under $150 if you look around. I paid $180 for my 512GB Force GT SSD during a sale on newegg which happens nearly 3 times a day 7 days a week. Removing something for size purposes is just plain stupid.
4.I dont like Aero Glass so it shouldnt exist.
Its called turn it off you stupid fucking idiot. I dont like google either or Apple so those shouldnt exist too by that logic. Stop acting like you have some kind of entitlement that makes everything your way only.
Theres a lot more that ive heard since windows 8 first ass raped Aero but ill leave that up to the rest of you guys to post the ones you've come across.
