Stubbornness seems to be in my nature. I am determined that Windows 10 will not get the best of me, so I continue to try to follow the Insider builds. Alas, I seem to be stuck at 10547. 10565 and 10576 have been exercises in frustration on one platform (my newest, the XPS 13 9343 circa 2015). My Venue 11 Pro (it's design is circa early 2014, although it's a late 2014 build after they worked out all the glitches and sent me a new one in January) seems to be chunking along, slowly and finally installing the latest builds.
So how about you? Anyone else on the same path of destruction as I am?
I spent a day trying just about everything I could think of (as documented in the post). My next attempt will be to download a 10576 ISO and try installing from that media. How many votes do I get on FAILURE versus SUCCESS as the result? Will I make it to 576?
In the meantime in probably an unrelated issue, I get the heinous SFC /SCANNOW error on opencl.dll (seems to be a very common issue). Any suggestions on how to clear this up? I think I'm going to open up a service ticket with Dell ProSupport to see if they have any resolutions. But I put greater stock in this group coming up with the fix.
As for being on the path of destruction, the only problem I had with 10547 was the rogue Lenovo keyboard driver causing the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (i8042HDR.sys) BSOD error which was addressed with this FIX. The updates to 10565 and 10576 have been un-enventful for me.
Yo, rickym, I envy those with the bliss of apparently smooth updates. Even on my Venue, the first attempt gave me an ORANGE SCREEN OF DEATH... Why not blue? I guess they decided to pick up your color theme in the hope that BSOD would stop being used (remember the old GPF?).
I have noted a number of XPS 13 peeps reporting BSOD. Me thinks there's something funky there that Dell and Microsoft have yet to work out. Possibly the fancy new display...
Yep... I use SupportAssist and the on-line Diagnostics, then I go check for drivers manually. But when all else fails, I really appreciate having the ProSupport. I get to bypass the Level1 Morons and Level2 Idiots and immediately land with an intelligent human being. Right now, all Dell tools tell me I have no problems.
I WIN I WIN I WIN I WIN! Hah, no stinking computer or Windows Update will keep me down forever. (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/installation-failure-windows-failed-to-install-the/a3feb63e-a970-4745-ae5d-7ad2407f52bb?msgId=1b7964ae-fef2-46de-be2a-2d5c218dc2b4). And, by the way, without Microsoft's help. By the time they reached out to me, I was already in the final process that succeeded.
<Rick> Good video. It's almost hard to believe that at one time Windows 98 was the resource hog, but even then, it still ran circles around what Windows 10 can do on today's modern hardware and look a heck of alot better doing it.

<Rick> As stated elsewhere, So much for the launch of Windows 11, "The Great Crash." Myself, I had a hard time getting into the site listed above, when I did get in, the video was partly done and then it crashed. There has been many other reports of crashing.

<Rick> I see Microsoft has been very quick to pull down reports of site crashing regarding the Launch of Windows 11 on the Microsoft Insiders forum.

<Rick> With reports of people being able to install the dev-edition of Windows 11 on machines not meeting spec, I thought I would give it a what-the-heck try. Lucky me, I'm caught in the downloading, doesn't meet spec, clearing, re-downloading loop on my machine!

<Rick> I've recently purchased a license for ArcaOS from www.arcanoae.com/ to play with. First impressions, it's still OS/2, but it now has a Linux twist to it.

<dozrguy> laptop shit out and am stuck buying a new one. os win11 as fucked as win10 was?

<Rick> Let's see ..., my impression of Windows 11 is that it is a spruced up version of Windows 10 requiring a 64-bit processor plus a piece of security hardware that is less than 4 years old in order for it to run.

<Rick> On the plus side, Microsoft is supposed to be supporting Windows 10 for some time to come for those of us still using systems with I7 or older processors.

<dozrguy> STILL so much bullshit and so little time for the kiddie ideas from the hill. My new laptop (MSI GE 11-UH461) would be an awesome "10" machine but because of Winblows I can only give it a "2"......wasted $3500

<Rick> Hello. Just checking in.

<isidroco> Each new w10 update adds >100000 useless files to \Windows\Servicing\LCU\Package_for_RollupFix... folders. Even in a SSD takes time to delete that stuff. In each version they manage to worsen stuff.

<Rick> No, there does not seem to be very much traffic these days. I still check in from time to time.
